It is always fun to read a friend. It is even better when their story turns out to be great and you don’t have to say, “yea, it was interesting.” (That is always a fear of mine when friends read my work.)
Christine Haggerty wrote an amazing story called, Acquisitions: The Plague Legacy Book 1
I must admit that I did not know what to expect going in to the book. At first blush I thought it might be a marriage of Hunger Games and Divergent, which is good because I enjoyed both of those stories. However, I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be neither and it forged its own path.
Haggerty tells a great story. She develops engaging characters in a world that does not seem too far away. I found myself rooting for some and hating others, which is what I want from a story. There is just the right amount of intrigue, suspense and action to keep turning the pages until you are all done and left wanting MORE.
Needless to say I am looking forward to the next installment.
